These hold about 3 1/2 cups each, which turned out to be perfect for a big bowl of cereal or a dinner salad. I've used them almost every day since they arrived, and the 8-inch size fits nicely in my cabinet without stacking awkwardly.
They're a bit heavier than my old bowls but that actually keeps them from sliding around when I'm whisking eggs. The 2.25 inch depth means cereal and soup both work without splashing over the edge. Wish they stacked a little tighter in the cabinet, otherwise no complaints.
The 8-inch size is handy for soup or a big salad, but the 2.25-inch depth makes them feel more like shallow pasta bowls than all-purpose ones. Fine for the price, though I still reach for my deeper bowls when I'm hungry.
