Henri Matisse : Les gouaches découpées

The glossy pages really capture the texture and vibrancy of Matisse's cut-outs, making each piece feel like you're standing in front of it. Great coffee-table book that I keep picking up again and again.

I was half-afraid this would be another thin coffee-table gloss-over, but the deep dive into Matisse's cut-out process actually taught me something new on every page. The way it traces his shift from painting to scissors feels like you're watching him think.

The glossy pages make the cut-out colors feel almost sculptural, and the book's weight is substantial—perfect for lingering over each plate. I've spent hours flipping between the smaller detail shots and the full-page spreads, and the layout keeps drawing me back in. A must-have for any serious art
